The horrors of caffeine addiction!

80 to 90 percent of North American adults and children are estimated to consume caffeine products every day. Experts estimate about half that number will experience headaches and other symptoms from caffeine withdrawal syndrome.

There are a number of reasons why someone might need to reduce or stop their daily caffeine intake. Experts tell pregnant women not to consume more than 200 milligrams of caffeine a day (about one 12-ounce cup of coffee). Caffeinated products are not recommended for people who are prone to panic attacks or those who suffer from anxiety. Some surgical patients may also experience the symptoms of caffeine withdrawal syndrome on the day of surgery, because they are told not to eat or drink anything.

Makeshift Flamethrowers

A disturbing trend among some teenagers, using body sprays as a homemade flamethrower, has worried Fire Rescue investigators."We've had a dozen young people charged with various arson crimes in the last month and all involved Axe Body Spray," said Cindy Matthews of West Metro Fire.The fire department asked teachers, principals and parents to caution young people to ignore the more than 200 videos on YouTube.com showing body sprays being ignited and used as mini-flamethrowers.

Troubled diva Whitney Houston secretly paid a $400,000 ransom demand to kidnappers who threatened to kill her ex-husband Bobby Brown, a bombshell new book claims.

Brown was snatched and held “naked and hog tied” at gunpoint by members of a notorious New York street gang known as the Preacher Crew, according to author David Collins.

Below the soft silicon skin of one of Japan's most sophisticated robots, processors record and evaluate information. The 130-cm (four-foot, four-inch) humanoid is designed to learn just like a human infant.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's glam Costa Rican wedding was marred by gunfire last night when security guards hired to keep paparazzi away fired at two photographers as they fled the scene with their film. No one was hurt.

According to two spokesmen for the INF photo agency, photographers were hiding in the brush near Gisele’s beachfront home taking pictures of the event when they were rousted by the newlyweds’ security guards.

This girl might actually have to PAY for college!

The Louisville Cardinals crawled out of an early hole to beat Oklahoma 61-59 in the national semifinals Sunday night and end Courtney Paris' stellar career. Out too soon, four-time All-American Paris now must fulfill her promise to pay back the cost of her four-year scholarship if the Sooners failed to win the title. She left the court in tears after exchanging hugs with Louisville's McCoughtry and huddling with her team for a final time.

"I do make good on the guarantee," said Paris, whose father is former NFL offensive lineman Bubba Paris. "Not today, though. Obviously, I don't have $64,000 waiting, but I do make good on it."

Paris goes home without ever playing in a national championship game. In fact, this was her first trip to the Final Four. Still, her name dots the record book. She is the NCAA's best rebounder of all time and the first player to block at least 100 shots in each of her four years in college.

Jay Leno's New Show in Jeopardy?

In a worrisome sign for NBC's game-changing primetime makeover plans, a Boston affiliate is refusing to air Jay Leno's new 10 p.m. talk show next fall.

WHDH Channel 7 in Boston announced it will air its own hourlong local newscast instead.

Explaining the move to the Boston Globe, station owner Ed Ansin said he believes a newscast will draw higher ratings than Leno.

Hal Steinbrenner Admits He's Ripping Us Off

Sitting in new Yankee Stadium on the first day fans came to the $1.5 billion ballpark, general partner Hal Steinbrenner admitted some tickets might be overpriced given the recession but insisted the team read the market correctly for most of them.

The Yankees set prices for its premium Legends Suites seats 13 months ago and sold them for $500-$2,500 as part of season tickets. According to the team's Web site, some of those seats remain available for individual games, when the prices goes up to $2,625.

More Chimps Gone Crazy!

Officers shot and killed a rampaging chimpanzee in a rural area and then found a squalid, unlicensed puppy mill in the chimp owners' home, officials said.

Three people were arrested Wednesday on charges of animal abuse and neglect, operating as an unlicensed breeder and keeping wild animals without proper registration, Daviess County officials said.

The Sheriff's Department had responded to a call Monday night on a request to help capture an angry chimp running loose on a highway outside Winston in northwest Missouri. When officers arrived, the 9-year-old chimp opened the patrol car door and grabbed the leg of a deputy, who fatally shot it, Chief Deputy Todd Watson said.

Guiding Light Shines No More

The soap opera "Guiding Light" is switching off after a 72-year run that predates television.

CBS says the show will have its final episode in September. Like most daytime dramas, "Guiding Light" has suffered from declining ratings and CBS is looking for a lower-cost alternative to the hour of programming.

The Guinness Book of World Records has cited it as the longest-running television drama, with more than 15,700 episodes airing.
