Lakers fans were just proud Adam Morrison got a ring

Hundreds celebrated in the streets outside Staples Center after the Los Angeles Lakers' NBA title win Sunday night, with some revelers damaging at least one police cruiser, throwing rocks and bottles at officers and setting bonfires.

At least five members of the rowdy crowd that split off to surrounding streets were arrested after police declared the gathering an unlawful assembly, police spokeswoman Mary Grady said.

LeBron: Sportsman of the year!

"It's hard for me to congratulate somebody after you just lose to them," he said. "I'm a winner. It's not being a poor sport or anything like that. If somebody beats you up, you're not going to congratulate them. That doesn't make sense to me. I'm a competitor. That's what I do. It doesn't make sense for me to go over and shake somebody's hand."

The NBA's MVP stormed out of Orlando's Amway Arena without speaking to the media Saturday night after the Cleveland Cavaliers were ousted from the playoffs 103-90 by the Magic.

One-handed basketball phenom comes to Manhattan

Kevin Laue knows what would happen if a college basketball team took a chance on him and he didn't pan out. Fans would wonder what the coach was thinking in using a scholarship on a center missing his left hand.

"It's a business," the 6-foot-10 Laue said. "Their jobs are all on the line. It's much safer to take a two-handed guy my size that got beat by me."

This girl might actually have to PAY for college!

The Louisville Cardinals crawled out of an early hole to beat Oklahoma 61-59 in the national semifinals Sunday night and end Courtney Paris' stellar career. Out too soon, four-time All-American Paris now must fulfill her promise to pay back the cost of her four-year scholarship if the Sooners failed to win the title. She left the court in tears after exchanging hugs with Louisville's McCoughtry and huddling with her team for a final time.

"I do make good on the guarantee," said Paris, whose father is former NFL offensive lineman Bubba Paris. "Not today, though. Obviously, I don't have $64,000 waiting, but I do make good on it."

Paris goes home without ever playing in a national championship game. In fact, this was her first trip to the Final Four. Still, her name dots the record book. She is the NCAA's best rebounder of all time and the first player to block at least 100 shots in each of her four years in college.
