A hotel employee in Nevada has filed a civil suit accusing Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault. ProFootballTalk.com reports that Roethlisberger was served the suit over the weekend.
Roethlisberger faces one civil count of assault, one civil count of sexual assault and battery, one civil count of false imprisonment, one civil count of false pretenses, one civil count of fraud, and one civil count of intentonal infliction of emtional distress.
The employee, Andrea McNulty, alleges that Roethlisberger forced her to have sex with him in his hotel room in July 2008. According to PFT, it is unknown if McNulty attempted to file criminal charges.
David Cornwall, Roethlisberger's lawyer and a finalist for the position of NFLPA executive director, issued a statement to PFT in which he denied the charges.
"Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone; especially Andrea McNulty," Cornwell said.
Shot twice in the head and two more times in the chest, former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was the victim of a homicide, police declared Sunday. But authorities wouldn't say it was a murder-suicide — even with his 20-year-old girlfriend dead at his feet from a single bullet. McNair had been dating Saleh Kazemi for several months, and Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron said Sunday that a semiautomatic pistol was found under her body. She was shot in the head.
McNair, who was married with four sons, had a permit to carry a handgun in Tennessee, and he was arrested once before with a 9mm weapon although charges in the case were dropped. Police said they had not yet determined who owned the gun found at the scene.

Buffalo Bills starting cornerback Terrence McGee hurt his right arm when he tumbled to the turf while defending receiver Terrell Owens during a voluntary minicamp practice on Wednesday.McGee was hurt about 30 minutes into the 90-minute session and did not return after entering the trainer's room. A team source told ESPN.com's Tim Graham the injury is minor.
During team drills, McGee was shadowing Owens up the sideline when the two went up for a pass. Owens initially caught the ball but had it ripped out by McGee. The two then fell to the ground with Owens partially landing on the cornerback.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's glam Costa Rican wedding was marred by gunfire last night when security guards hired to keep paparazzi away fired at two photographers as they fled the scene with their film. No one was hurt. According to two spokesmen for the INF photo agency, photographers were hiding in the brush near Gisele’s beachfront home taking pictures of the event when they were rousted by the newlyweds’ security guards.

Denver Broncos President and CEO Pat Bowlen on Tuesday released the following statement: "Numerous attempts to contact Jay Cutler in the last 10 days, both by Head Coach Josh McDaniels and myself, have been unsuccessful. A conversation with his agent earlier today clearly communicated and confirmed to us that Jay no longer has any desire to play for the Denver Broncos. We will begin discussions with other teams in an effort to accommodate his request to be traded."
More games that count, perhaps as early as August 2011? That's exactly what NFL commissioner Roger Goodell wants. There are several hurdles before the league can expand its regular season from 16 to 17 or 18 games. Among them is reaching a new collective bargaining agreement with the players' union.
Still, Goodell hopes to present a proposal to the owners in May after the matter was discussed at length this week at the NFL Annual Meeting.
