INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. -- Indian River County deputies are trying to figure out who left $1 million worth of cocaine just lying around. On Saturday morning, eyewitnesses saw a suspicious looking burlap sack in Sebastian Inlet and called police. Inside the bag they found approximately 60-pounds of cocaine.

Deputies have not been able to link the sack to a suspect.

Authorities want the public to be aware that handling these types of products is not only against the law, but extremely dangerous. The Indian River County Sheriff's Office encourages anyone that comes across illegal drugs or unknown packages to contact the local law enforcement or the United States Coast Guard.

Workers were a little red-faced after painters misspelled the word "school" on the ground in front of Goulds Elementary in Miami-Dade County, Fla. Even young students pointed out that "scohol" doesn't make any sense.

"They should go back to school," said student Keon Brooks.

"They really need the education because if they can't get to spelling school right, what you think it's going to benefit for the kids when they're laying all these teachers off?" said parent Quantisha Henley.

"They're trying to cut down on education but they need more," said another parent.

This error coming on the heels of a recent announcement that nearly 400 teachers will be getting pink slips. School board officials hope to give many of them their jobs back once federal stimulus money becomes available.

A spokesman for Miami-Dade Public Works said the painters used semi-permanent paint, and ended up repairing the mistake last week.

Florida strikes again!

DAYTONA BEACH -- Two suspected bank robbers were arrested after their getaway car ran out of gas.

Randall Walker, 38, and Jason Dietrich, 34, are accused of robbing the Riverside Bank on South Nova Road around noon Tuesday.

The teller says one of the men demanded cash and said he had a gun.

The teller complied, and the suspects took off in a Jeep Cherokee. But the vehicle ran out of gas on Bellevue Avenue.

Dietrich was taken into custody when he came back to retrieve his vehicle. Walker was arrested at his home, after he reportedly paid a passerby $50 to take him there.

Marion County sheriff's deputies arrested a Silver Springs man after he allegedly sped away from his mother's house when they arrived to confront him about a domestic dispute.

John W. Woodward, 23, got into his Saturn sedan and sped away into the 14000 block of Northeast 14th Street Road after a deputy tried to pull him over as he was leaving his mother's house. According to the Sheriff's Office report, Woodward then crashed through a baseball field fence at Northeast 14th Street Road and 145th Avenue before another deputy stopped Woodward's car.

Afterward, Woodward told deputies he had drunk six beers before he got in the car, sped away from the deputies because he didn't think they needed to be involved and that the whole incident was "the most fun" he'd had in two years, the report states. Woodward's blood-alcohol content was .134, over the legal limit of .08.

A 19-year-old woman who brought her small child with her last week as she shoplifted underwear from a Wal-Mart Supercenter is facing charges, according to a recently released arrest affidavit.

Kora Jade Luster, of the 700 block of Southeast Lomas Street in Port St. Lucie, faces misdemeanor charges of retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with the Thursday incident.

An Orlando man was struck and killed by a sheriff's deputy's cruiser outside the Orange County Jail minutes after he was released from the facility.

Orange County sheriff's Deputy Armando Harwood, 43, of Orlando, was driving northbound in a marked patrol vehicle at about 3:10 a.m. when he approached 33rd Street and had a green light and struck the man, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. The victim was not in a crosswalk when he was hit, troopers said.

Florida's Drunkest Teacher, 2009

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- Video has now surfaced of a Pasco County teacher accused last week of coming to class intoxicated and forcing students to dance in an inappropriate manner.

District administrators say 42-year-old Kylene Nelson remains on administrative leave pending a decision on her future by the Pasco County School Board.

Reports show the teacher had a blood alcohol level of 0.26 and later ran from campus to a nearby community center where she was found passed out by a pool.
